Heroes Spoilers

Some of our "Heroes" have been very generous over the past few days in revealing a few secrets about the upcoming season of the hit show and this has helped me gather enough content for yet another post.


The Japanese connection

Season two is going to begin with two parallel timelines going on, one starting four months after the explosion and another-mainly Hiro's storyline-starting 400 years in the past. And we'll see how they kind of affect each other. At the end of the first season, Hiro found himself transported back in time to 16th century Japan. According to Oka, Hiro will spend at least eight episodes there before returning to the present. There, he will encounter some of the characters from the stories of his childhood, including the legendary samurai Takezo Kensei, who will be played by David Anders (Sark from ABC's Alias ). The show is currently finishing the third episode of the upcoming season. There's also gonna be a princess, Princess Iako, played by [Japanese pop star] Eriko Tamura.

When Hiro meets Kensei, he discovers that "the storybooks have exaggerated and Kensei isn't the kind of man Hiro idolized. This will put Japan's future at stake, so Hiro has to make Kensei into the one of legend." The producers told Masi that while Hiro is in the past, "something terrible will be happening in the present, maybe because Hiro wasn't there. When he returns to modern day, he's in for the shock of his life." The Japanese princess that Eriko Tamura is playing is supposed to fall in love with Kensei, but falls for Hiro instead, which will be "a disaster."


Maya

Dania Ramirez will play Maya, a new hero whose powers are being kept under wraps. Maya is one of four to five new characters expected to be added to Heroes next season, but her character might be the only regular one. Alejandro is Maya's twin, and the two are on the run. They will make their way "through Central America and Mexico to try to enter the U.S. illeagally," and will "find border trouble along the way." According to Dania Ramirez, "Maya is a very good person, but her abilities have made her extremely dangerous. This has caused a lot of havoc in her life."


Niki

Ali Larter, who plays the dual-personality Jessica/Niki says her character can be expected to channel another popular kickass female hero in the coming second season. "I've heard a little bit," Larter said about the upcoming arc for her character. "A little La Femme Nikita... I'm happy about most things they give me on the show."


Petrelli

Adrian Pasdar, Nathan Petrelli on Heroes, in a hurried dressing room conversation, said "Apparently not!" when asked if he died in the season finale, after blasting into the stratosphere. Though it wud've been more believable if it were Peter who got back alive, what with his ability to heal......

Smallvile, Supernatural bolster casts

Katie Cassidy joins Supernatural, Laura Vandervoort becomes "Supergirl"

Tom Welling won't be the only super thing going on in the seventh season of Smallville. Canadian actress Laura Vandervoort has bagged the much-sought-after role of Kara Zor-El--Supergirl to those who aren't familiar. As Clark's cousin, Kara will also be endowed with superpowers--including the ability to fly--but as a newbie to Earth, she will be become obsessed with pop culture.

Supergirl is expected to debut in the upcoming season premiere of Smallville, where she will be "thawed out" after being in suspended animation for 16 years. Originally sent down to Earth to watch over Clark as his elder, she will wake up younger than her cousin as a result of her stasis.

Elsewhere, joining the cast of CW's Supernatural next season will be Katie Cassidy. The actress will come on board as Ruby, a demon hunter who befriends the duo of Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles).

Prison Break returning September

For all u PB fans out there, there is good news and bad news.
good news: FOX finally unveiled its fall lineup last week.
bad news: unlike the last two seasons which premiered in August, this time around Season 3 is set to premiere Sept 17, a day after the network broadcasts the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Can't wait to see how Scofield manages to get himself out of prison....the situation looks extremely grim for Michael, going by the looks of what was left of Capt Bellick.

Legion of super-Heroes

Series adds six recurring roles

As Heroes readies itself for its next season, NBC has been adding cast members slowly, generally one at a time. Eight new actors have already been roped in for the second season which premieres late September.


Leading the way is David Anders, who is best known for playing Julian Sark on Alias. Anders will take the role of the ancient samurai warrior Takezo Kensei, Hiro Nakamura's (Masi Oka) childhood hero. While never seen during Heroes' first season, Kensei played a key part in the show's plot. Hiro spent most of the season trying to get a hold of Kensei's sword, which he hoped would help him in his quest to save the world.

In another Japanese connection, Eriko Tamura, a Japanese pop star and actress, will play the role of a Japanese princess. Tamura has starred in more than 15 Japanese features and TV series and has released 10 albums there. She made her English-language debut in the 2006 feature Surf School.

Veteran actor Barry Shabaka Henley (Detective Strummer in Close to Home) will suit up as Detective Fuller, a New York police officer. Heroes extends Henley's relationship with NBC and Universal Media Studios. This past development season, he co-starred on David Shore's drama pilot for the network, and next appears in the feature The Horsemen.



Holt McCallany (Detective John Hagen in CSI: Miami) will play Ricky, the ringleader of a group of Irish thugs. McCallany, who has been developing a feature that he is looking to direct, next appears in the feature Vantage Point.



Lyndsy Fonseca ("Daughter" in How I Met Your Mother) and Dianna Agron (Jenny Budosh in Veronica Mars) will play beautiful cheerleaders in Southern California, where Claire (Hayden Panettiere) is expected to move. Fonseca's character April is sweet, while Agron's Debbie is a mean girl.

Dania Ramirez, of The Sopranos fame, will play the role of Maya in Heroes: Generations, while Nicholas D'Agosto landed the coveted role of Claire Bennet's (Hayden Panettiere) boyfriend.


It is currently unclear which actors will be regulars and which will just be involved in multi-episode arcs. It is also assumed that the actors will play roles in Heroes rather than the six-episode spin-off Heroes: Origins, though NBC was unable to confirm that.

Prison Break cuffs two new cast members

Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, Robert Wisdom join Fox's jailbird series next season.

Prison Break's Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows are coming back for another year on the lam and under the microscope of a secret organization, but they won't be alone.

Two new cast members of the Fox drama were announced today and will join the show as regulars for its third season. Robert Wisdom and Jodi Lyn O'Keefe join Wentworth Miller (Michael) and Dominic Purcell (Lincoln), but will both play very different roles.


Wisdom will star as the jailed Panamanian drug lord Luchero, who happens to run the inmates in the Central American joint where much of the upcoming season takes place. The actor's previous credits include Howard "Bunny" Colvin on The Wire, Barbershop 2: Back in Business, and Ray.



O'Keefe will play Betty Crocker, an agent for the secret government organization, the Company. The fetching 28-year old brunette has a host of television credits, including appearances on Criminal Minds, Two and a Half Men, and Nash Bridges, in which she played the titular detective's daughter.


Production on the third season of Prison Break, which begins this fall, was slated to begin July 2.

New characters on tap for Heroes, Prison Break

Hit shows add cast members; new series rethink some roles.

The 2006-07 season is barely over and the broadcast networks have announced their fall schedules, and buzz has already started about new characters being added to returning hits next season and roles being recast on the newly picked-up rookie shows.

NBC's Heroes, which wrapped its freshman season with an explosive finale, is rumored to be introducing at least four new, mostly international, characters next season, among them a sexy boyfriend for everyone's favorite cheerleader, Claire (Hayden Panettiere).

Also potentially joining the cast of characters on Heroes next season are a 28-year-old black mother, a surrogate for Niki's (Ali Larter) son, an Irish mobster, and a twentysomething Latina. It is believed that most of these characters will only do arcs on the show rather than become regulars.

New characters on Fox's Prison Break--which will find Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and the gang locked up in a Panama prison next season--include a mysterious fisherman who apparently is wrongfully imprisoned there, a beautiful local woman who is the fisherman's girlfriend, a Panamanian drug kingpin, and a female freelance operative with a government organization.
